Dennis Horton, director of the Rockford Regional Office of the Better Business Bureau, joins Steve Summers on This Week in the Stateline to warn residents about a surge in scams and fraud that come with tax season.

Taxpayers lost $5.7 billion across the country due to tax scams and fraud in 2022, according to the IRS.

Horton warns people to watch for imposter phone calls, texts, emails and phony letters that aim to stoke fear.
