    ROCKFORD — Alpine Kiwanis Club has awarded 10 scholarships of $3,000 each to graduating high school seniors.

    The $30,000 awarded to students for post-secondary education and training comes from the Alpine Kiwanis Club Scholarship Fund, which generates money in part from the annual Brat Days.

    The scholarship recipients are:

    • Madison Harmsen, Guilford
    • Sierra Koller, Belvidere North
    • Katie Dao, Guilford,
    • Jana Ahmed, Hononegah
    • Addyson Feng, Auburn
    • Blake Calcione, Guilford
    • Jacqueline Chen, Hononegah
    • Olivia Diaz Medina, Belvidere North
    • Nia Hodges, Guilford
    • Reese Erdahl, Winnebago

    This summer will be the 53rd year of Brat Days, a two-day event that is the single biggest fundraiser for Alpine Kiwanis. The money raised supports up to 30 nonprofits each year, including the scholarships for graduating seniors.

    This summer, Brat Days is slated to take place on July 12-13 at Farm & Fleet, 7300 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park, and CherryVale Mall parking lot, 7200 Harrison Ave., Cherry Valley.
