ROSCOE — MembersAlliance Credit Union celebrated on Thursday the opening of its newest branch and its first freestanding location in the village.

Company President and CEO Cheryl Sio said the credit union’s goal is to be more than the physical building at 5110 Rockrose Court, which is just north of Beef-a-Roo.

“We don’t want to just be a building that people come to or an entity, we want to be part of the community here,” Sio said.

MembersAlliance held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with The Parks Chamber of Commerce, Rockford Chamber of Commerce, village officials and Hagney Architects and Schmeling Construction Co. The event marked the official celebration of its opening in January.

The new branch replaces the location inside of the Walmart on Rockton Road.

“Since we came up here in 2007 this was our intention all along,” Sio said of opening a freestanding branch.

MembersAlliance was founded in 1938 by a small group of Sundstrand employees as Sundstrand Credit Union. It has grown to more than 20,000 members and is the largest locally owned credit union. It has three locations in Rockford, as well as the Roscoe branch.

It offers a full array of consumer banking services, including savings and checking accounts, certificates of deposit, auto loans, mortgages, debt consolidation and other consumer loans. It has numerous certified financial counselors on staff.

“All the people of the village of Roscoe, the township of Roscoe, have been extremely supportive,” Sio said. “It feels like home to us already.”
