ROCKFORD — “A League of Their Own,” the Amazon Prime Video series that put the Rockford Peaches back in the spotlight, will return for an abbreviated second and final season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Amazon and Sony Pictures Television, which produced the show, have not confirmed the report and declined comment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will conclude with a four-episode final season.

Co-Creator Will Graham has said via Twitter that the show has continued to fight for more than four episodes. He said that people at Prime Video and Sony have fought to continue the show and are “part of our team.”
“We would never be where we are without them, we appreciate them, and I appreciate all the fans keeping the positive tone of the show in mind while you speak your hearts,” he wrote on Twitter late last week after The Hollywood Reporter story emerged.
It’s so wonderful to see all the support for #aleagueoftheirown. I want to acknowledge that there are so many people at @PrimeVideo and @SPTV who have fought so hard for so long to get this show on the air, and to be able to continue it. They are part of our team. 1/2

The eight-episode first season of the show was mostly praised by critics and audiences alike. It has a 94% critic score and 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and it earned the Women’s Committee Seal of Female Empowerment in Entertainment from the Critics Choice Association, the National Visibility Award from the Human Rights Campaign and co-creator Abbi Jabobson was honored with the Voice and Visibility Award from the National Council of La Raza.
The show co-created by Jacobson and Graham rebooted the classic 1992 film by the same name, but it explores heavier topics such race and sexuality, including navigating lesbian and queer romance in an era with little acceptance to those relationships.
The stars of the show came here in July for a premier at the Coronado Performing Arts Center attending by more than 2,000 fans. The first eight episodes then went on Prime on Aug. 12.
The show stars Jacobson, Chante Adams, Melanie Field, Kate Berlant and D’Arcy Carden.
The Hollywood Reporter said the abbreviated season was decided on after months of renegotiations.
