Carly Rice and her family decided to start sharing extra food during mealtimes with anyone who was hungry. Miss Carly’s now serve almost 1,000 people per day, three days per week from the home-based service organization. If anyone needs a meal, they are welcome to come to their door 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and they will receive something to eat. No questions asked.

Rice and her volunteers don’t just make and hand out sack lunches, they also offer hope in many different ways.

Miss Carly’s also provides free and confidential Narcan training and hands only CPR training to the public. Three days per week, they also open their “storage closet” to the public and hand out donations of clothing, books, hygiene items and household goods.

They’ve helped women fleeing domestic violence or getting free from human trafficking. They try their best to find people a place to live, to get off of drugs and get healthy and even find employment.

Miss Carly’s isn’t just about giving people something to eat. They are about giving people a second, third or even fourth chance at life.

If you’d like to make a donation to their “storage closet” with household items, clothing, shoes, etc., you may do so Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 1125 Fifth Ave. in Rockford. The donation location is in the alley behind the building, and volunteers will gladly take your donation.

You can also make a financial donation on their website by clicking here.
