Here are today’s Nerd News! headlines:

     

    First, the box office:

    “Godzilla vs. Kong” made $7.7-million making it number 1 for the third weekend in a row. Not only that but at over 80 million total so far, it could be the first pandemic era movie to take in more than a hundred million.
    In 2nd and 3rd were “Nobody”$2.5-million and “The Unholy”$2.1-million.

    Sony’s Playstation 5 is officially the fastest selling gaming console in US history in both individual unit sales and dollars. More impressive is that even battling scalpers and shortages they were able to unload 4.5 million systems in 2020 alone. Currently they are on pace to make that number 14.8 million by this time in 2022. 

    Georgia has passed the controversial SB202 voting law. What does that have to do with Nerd News? Well, a lot of out of state entities are now boycotting in protest, including film studios. Ryan Coogler, however, has decided to keep the production of “Black Panther’s” next installment in the state. Coogler states that some of the people affected by the voting laws are people that he employs and that he plans to stay and fight the law by supporting organizations that oppose voter suppression. 1
