“Photo or it didn’t happen” is a common phrase in the social media age to prove that you actually did something, but you need to be careful about what you post.

Posting your COVID-19 vaccination card has become a popular way for people to celebrate their first round of the shot. However, your vaccination card carries some personal information including your full name, your birthday, and where you received the shot.

All this information can be useful for scammers.

The Better Business Bureau recommends that if you’ve already posted a photo like that, simply take it down or check your privacy settings to make sure your friends are the only ones who can see it.

Some safer ways to share the news are by posting a photo of your vaccine sticker if you get one. Or change your profile pic to add something that says, “I got vaccinated.”
