ROCKFORD — Let’s be real. No one LIKES going to the gym or working out, but at this class you won’t even realize you are working out — until you start feeling the burn that is.

Tuesdays and Thursdays Channel Edwards and Fabbie Williams, owner of Fab Dance & Fitness Academy, host a fitness class called “Baddie Boot Camp.” Let me tell you, I didn’t know my body could sweat that much. I decided to go check it out with a friend, and coming from someone who has no rhythm whatsoever, this class is the closest thing I have to learning choreography. It was such a blast.

It’s a full-body workout. Edwards sets up the moves slowly and repeats them, so you can learn the choreography step-by-step before putting it all together. Or, if you’re an experienced dancer, you can learn the choreography early on and then speed up the moves. You can put your own little beat into it to get your heart pumping for a high-intensity dance workout.

“Health and fitness is important to sustain a growing population. It can prevent health problems and increase mobility to maintain independence as we age,” Williams said.

Edwards and Williams put all the classes on Facebook Live because they want to encourage everyone to join in.

“It’s so important for women seeing other women getting fit and active. There are women out there that are battling depression and low self esteem,” Edwards, dance instructor at Fab Dance & Fitness Academy, said. “They watch our lives and get inspired and motivated to come get fit and involved with other like minded women. Women are stronger together.”

The class is $10 and open all ages.

Fab Dance & Fitness Academy is located at 115 N. Wyman St. in downtown.
