Look Up! Women in Astronomy for Kids

March 21, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Be dazzled by the stars! Be amazed by the universe! Explore astronomy and find out what pioneering woman astronomer Henrietta Leavitt found irresistible about the cosmos, leading her to become one of the first female astronomers to make breakthrough discoveries in astronomy.

After a short presentation from the play “Silent Sky” by Artists’ Ensemble Theater, we can let our imaginations soar as we explore the night sky in a portable, inflatable planetarium presented by The Discovery Center Museum. Visit constellations, identify a Cepheid variable star, compare magnitudes, star colors, and more.

Designed for ages 8-12. Space is limited. Reserve your spot at www.rockfordpubliclibrary.org/events.
