Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois will be operating its free income tax preparation and filing sites throughout the summer to help people recover stimulus payments and file past year tax returns.

“Our IRS-certified volunteers have done amazing work this tax season helping our tax clients get the deductions and credits they deserve including helping people claim the Recovery Rebate Credit, which helps those who were overlooked during the first two stimulus checks. We are continuing this work into the summer to help people get the stimulus money that they have been waiting for,” says Lance Perkins, GoodTAXES Program Manager.

GoodTAXES will be completing tax returns this summer on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays starting June 8th from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at its Rockford Mission Services Center located at 850 N. Church Street.  GoodTAXES also has appointments still available through the May 17th Tax Day deadline and can assist people who need to file tax returns as far back as 2017.

For more information or to schedule an appointment online, go to www.goodwillni.org/good-taxes or call (815) 987-6200.

Goodwill is also offering federal and state tax filing online through the My Free Taxes Program. For those who would like to complete their own taxes online, free of charge, they can go to www.myfreetaxes.com.
