It’s been a year since this whole pandemic started. Last year, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot called off the dying of the Chicago River due to Coronavirus. On Saturday, March 13th, Lightfoot reversed her early decision, and the crews started dumping green dye in the riverfront on boats as early as 7 am.

A spokesman for Lightfoot said the city opted “to honor the long-standing tradition” of dyeing the river.
