Winter is here and that means single digit and subzero temperatures are hitting us in the Stateline. Not only are they affecting us in the community but also the homeless as well.

Rockford homeless shelters will see an increased need in the weeks to come and need help from those in the community. According to Mike Hedrick, who is the director of homeless services at the Rockford Rescue Mission, their shelter is already at 90% of its capacity because of the pandemic. He believes that the capacity limit should break later this week.

The need for gloves and socks for the homeless community is in high demand right now. You can donate those in person or online which will allow for Miss Carly’s and the Rockford Rescue Mission to buy their own winter gear for those who are in need.
