One thing is for sure. 2020 keeps throwing the unexpected at us every day. Remember in 2019 when it snowed in October in the Stateline? We do.

Throughout Rockford history, Rockford, Illinois usually measures little or no snowfall in the month of October. Our first snowfall pretty much happens in November around these parts.

December is light snow to hit and miss. I remember one Christmas Day in 2006 where the temperatures hit 60+ degrees. I have a great family photo on the back deck in the sun in our Christmas outfits.

However in January, Rockford gets the “mother load” of snow. It’s the Midwest. It’s what happens.

A record setting 4.2 inches of snow in Rockford on October 30th and 31st, 2019 and 4.6 inches of snow in Chicago during the same period according to wspynews.com.

The shock and horror of it all on the Halloween decorations will be an image hard to forget.

Here’s to a much less snowy Halloween in the Stateline.  I don’t think we’re ready for scary, “bone” chilling temperatures and snow this year. But, then again, it is 2020!
