In 1958, Hoffman House opened its Rockford location in Don Carter Lanes on E. State, and later in 1975, moved to its current location which is next to the Holiday Inn in Rockford. But on Monday, September 7th, Hoffman House was forced to close its door temporarily due to low sales from the ongoing pandemic.

Owner, Michael Prosser says, “Due to these challenging times of reduced business the Hoffman House Dining Room is temporarily closing its doors. We have been following all of the ever-changing rules and the fear perception instilled in people for indoor dining has not helped.” He went on by saying, “Also not having the ability to do over 50 person events is difficult. We also do not have the space for outdoor dining and others that do will have challenges themselves as it gets colder.”

The Scoreboard Sports Bar, which is located inside, will remain open 7 days a week and Hoffman House Banquets and Catering will still offer its services. The owner has stated there is no reopen date for the Hoffman House dining room.
