For the most part, we have had a pretty mild winter (compared to the freezing tundra weather we had last year.) I have never been happier for spring to come…because that means summer is right around the corner. You know when that first REALLY nice day hits the 815? I’m talking that bird chirping, fresh air smelling, make you wanna go out and live your best life type of weather. When it does, I have to make sure I get out and either rollerblade or walk my pups.

This past Sunday was one of those days…and it turns out I wasn’t the only one who wanted to get out of the house and away from my seasonal depression either!

I was making my way downtown to Sinnissippi, admiring the scenery, when I saw a man holding what appeared to be a VERY large bird. And in fact, it was a very large bird! So, of course, I had to turn around and snap a picture.

Her name is Aspen, she is a 2-year-old Falconry bird. “She just got done hunting with me this morning,” Aspen’s caretaker said as he stuck out his arm for me to take a picture.

Aspen wasn’t the only one that came out to play in the 815. The Sinnissippi bike path was packed! If you didn’t get a chance to get out and enjoy the sunshine last week, don’t worry! This coming Sunday’s weather is supposed to be even nicer.

So let’s all take some advice from Aspen this Sunday and be that early bird who catches the worm! Get out and active this weekend!
