Take a second. Take a load off and BREATHE. As a dog mom, and I know all types of moms can relate, we get so busy with our jobs, taking care of our pets, kids, husband, partner or even friends, that we forget we need to take care of ourselves, first.

You, just like me and mostly everyone else, have a lot on your plate and are probably feeling drained most of the time. In my house, the tasks are never ending. Just when I think I have the laundry done, I turn around and there is a load of clothes that needs to be folded in the dryer. There are always muddy paws to be cleaned off, and a girls’ gotta eat so every night, something needs to be prepared for dinner. I find myself constantly running around, working two jobs, and going to school, sometimes life gets exhausting and stressful that I just forget to take care of ME.

Imagine it like this, when your cell phone battery gets low or you get that notification of “ten percent of battery remaining,” you plug your phone in to RECHARGE it.  So why let your personal “battery” get to that point. I think this year there needs to be a NEW New Year’s resolution that we all need to commit to, self-care and a little bit more of self-love.

Some of the greatest ideas for self-care can be done each day. I know it is easier said than done, but start with eating right, getting more sleep, unplugging from your phone, and exercising as much as you can. Another idea for starting your self care journey is to remember to be grateful for what you have. When you take the time to recharge your batteries and do some self-caring, you are more likely to come back to your life feeling refreshed and renewed. Doing so, will allow you to better help or take care of others since your batteries are fully charged.
